The coat of the Lagotto Romagnolo does not shed. However, it does need some care. The coat grows quite long and curly and can start to knot or felt. At this stage the coat needs to be regularly combed and brushed. The coat also needs to be trimmed or clipped about four times a year. You can have this done by a professional trimmer or maintain the coat yourself. Trimming is quite an art but if you don't care too much about sophisticated looks, clipping is a skill which is much easier acquired.
